CeeCee

Approx Age: 1-1/2 years
Chihuahua mix
Female, spayed

Current on all shots
CeeCee was found tied to a stairwell at an apartment complex and brought to the shelter by animal control. She was not showing well at the shelter so Four Paws Rescue took her in as a foster dog. CeeCee is an active little girl. She's raring to go as soon as she awakens right up to bedtime. After going out for her morning potty break she gets busy playing; chewing on a nylabone, tossing a toy, racing around the house to see what everyone is doing, and playing with the other foster dogs. We are seeking an adult only home as CeeCee can be a little mouthy. CeeCee does settle nicely when it's time for bed. Currently she sleeps in a crate but we're sure she'd be happy to join you in bed.

Please submit an on-line application Further questions, after completion of the application, can be directed to 510-886-8925.

Daisy

Approx Age: 10 months
Weight: 12 lbs
Jack Russell Terrier mix
Female, spayed

Current on all shots
Daisy came to us after being found on a freeway and not taking to shelter life with all the barking going on around her.It took her several days to warm up in her new foster home but now she's a little love bug. If you need incentive to get out for some exercise, Daisy will be happy to help you get your 10,000 steps. No stopping to smell the roses for this little girl. She wants to take advantage of being out and has gone as far as four miles but could do more. She gets along with the other dogs in the household but takes a bit of time to come around when meeting a strange dog when she's on a leash.

Rocco
Approximately 2 – 3 years old
Weight: 8 lbs (under 10 pounds)
Current on all shots
Breed:  Chihuahua mix
Male, neutered

Rocco was brought into a local animal shelter from the streets, where apparently he had suffered a run-in with another animal – he had bite marks near his head and rear end. Understandably, he was still frightened and wary when he was pulled from the shelter into foster care.

Although his physical scars have healed, Rocco has scary memories and even now will react with fear to a loud noise or unexpected movement and may be temporarily snappy. For this reason, he will be adopted to an adult only home, preferably one that does not expect to entertain small children.

Rocco’s foster mom reports that he really wants to please and can be a snuggle bug when he knows he can trust you and he loves to play fetch with his toys and will usually bring them back to you. He knows “stay” and “come” and enjoys his walks.

Rocco gets along with other dogs, but will chase squirrels. He needs a guardian who is patient and understanding as he works his way through behavior he learned on the streets. In return for love and security, he will make someone a wonderful, loving companion.

If interested in Rocco complete an on-line application and, if after completion of the application, you would like more information on Rocco, call 510-886-8925.

Isadora
Approximately 8 year old
Weight: About 50 pounds
Cattle dog mix
Female, spayed
Isadora (you can call her Dora) appears to have had a good home at one time. She is completely housetrained and very comfortable just following her foster family around the house. But evidently she fell on bad times. When she arrived at the Oakland Animal Shelter her ears were bloody from infection and her coat was full of foxtails. The shelter staff treated her ear infection and bathed and combed her. But, at her more mature age, she couldn’t compete with the younger shelter dogs for adoption. So, Four Paws Rescue took her into their foster program to give her more time to find her perfect retirement home.

Dora is a very sweet and affectionate dog. She can always be found lying at the feet of her foster family whether it’s in the computer room, living room, or bedroom. When she goes on walks she’ll follow anyone who stops to pet her. She gets along with other dogs and cats but she loves to be with people.

Dora has great house manners. She doesn’t bark, she doesn’t jump up on people or furniture, and she doesn’t chew inappropriate objects (your shoes are safe with Dora!). And she has not had one accident in her foster home. All she wants from life now is a warm place to sleep and someone to scratch her ears, pet her and tell her what a sweet dog she is. Could Dora live out her life with you?

Queenie (formerly Cameo)
Approximately 3 year old
Weight: About 14 pounds
Rat terrier mix
Female, spayed

Queenie is a three-year-old 14-pound Rat Terrier (?) mix. She is spayed and current on her vaccinations. Four Paws Rescue, who called her Cameo, rescued her from the animal shelter. It was discovered that her original family had named her Queenie. Queenie is a loving, cuddly lap dog. She is not a one person dog. All humans who are present get equal love and affection! If allowed to, she will snuggle under the covers with her human companions. She gets along with her foster family’s dog and cat. However, she gets a little jealous when they are given attention and will push herself between the other pet and human.

Queenie loves to play with her favorite squeaky toy. She plays fetch with almost any toy that is tossed for her. This dog plays with the fosters’ dog and even their cat!

Dino
Approximately 1-1/2 year old
Weight: About 6 pounds
Chihuahua
Male, neutered

“HEY!! TAKE A LOOK AT ME!! My name is Dino (aka Little Man, Crazy Dog, Dirk, Silly Boy or Sausage to those who love me the most) and I’m a cute little spunky bundle of love looking for my forever home. Let’s see - what would you like to know about me? I love to get up early and have breakfast right away ‘cos I love my food! After that, it’s time for a morning nap and then around 9 or so I rev into play mode. I love chasing tennis balls, sometimes chasing one while dragging another. I love squeaky balls and squeaky chickens, and pretty much anything that rolls along the floor. I don’t always bring the toys back to you, but I figure you need your exercise, too, right?! I get really excited when another doggie comes to stay for a while, especially one that will play with me and chase me around the house. (I love it when my foster mom chases me, too!) I share toys and bones well with humans and dogs, although I might vocalize my concerns with my playmate. I’m not too crazy about going for walks, but will not complain once I’m out there. You might think that I’m really hyper, but the second you sit down, I’ll be in your lap and ready for a cuddle. I love being held and will give you lots of licks all over your neck to thank you.

I know how to “sit” and “stay” and will perform these tricks most of the time. I will use a doggie door, but I prefer the door to be propped open if it’s a hard flap or a large flap like the one that is installed here for my foster sister. I guess I’m a bit of a “princess” sometimes, but I don’t like the door whacking my cute little behind, and it’s beneath me to push anything other than a tennis ball with my handsome face.

I am scared by young children, but I love older children who are gentle. Big dogs scare me, too, but if they are friendly with me, and want to play, then I’m all for making a new friend! My foster sister is bigger than me - 35lbs - and when she comes running, I just duck out of the way! Speaking of ducks, has anyone seen my squeaky chicken ….?”

(Dino came to us from the Oakland Shelter. He was suffering from Demodex Mange but, as you can see, he has recovered nicely. He’d love to have a doggie playmate and human companions who are gentle but fun-loving. Dino changes his routine when a new playmate comes to stay. He is more active, especially in the morning and after dinner.)

Hannah
Approximately 3 year old
Weight: About 20 pounds
Golden retriever/Daschund mix
Female, spayed
Hannah came to us from the Oakland shelter where she was left in the night drop. She may have been an outdoor dog as she was very dirty and flea ridden. She's a very sweet dog but extremely shy. She's slowly coming out of her shell with lots of tail wags for her foster mom. She's in a home with other dogs but has yet to interact with them. She's not used to a leash but once she gets moving she walks nicely. If you have extra love to spare for Hannah we're sure you'll be rewarded with a very loyal and loving dog.

Salvador
Approximately 1 year old
Weight: About 5 pounds
Chihuahua
Male, neutered
This little guy was roaming the neighborhood for a few weeks before one of the neighbors finally picked him up, brought him inside, got him to the vet and then realizing that they couldn’t care for him, were going to put him back on the street to fend for himself. The vet called us to see if we could help find a home for this little one. He is tiny, about five pounds, very shy at first but quickly warms up and LOVES kids; dogs and cats. His little quirk is that he does not do well with the male persuasion, however, we feel that this can be overcome with love, attention and caring.

Salvador will take a tad bit of time to get used to you, but the investment will be huge in return as he will a very loyal, loving, sweet, little friend – he just needs the right person who wants to take the time to let him be his owns little self !!!!

Lucy
Approximately 4 year old
Weight: About 50 pounds
Shepherd/Pitbull mix
Female, spayed
Lucy is in need of a new home. She is excellent with babies & children. However, she cannot be around other dogs or cats. She needs to be the sole pet and we cannot provide that for her. It breaks our hearts to not be able to keep her but we have another dog and other dogs in our extended family. She is very intelligent and obedient. Lucy is healthy, house-trained (primarily an indoor dog but loves to be outdoors). She loves to go places and would be a great traveling companion. Lucy is spayed, and microchipped. She is mid-sized; approximately 50 pounds.

While Lucy is not good with other dogs, she is 110% excellent with babies & children. She has been around my 2 year old nephew since he was born. She has withstood him poking her eyes, pulling her ears and tail, etc. and has never displayed any signs of aggression towards people. While the dog park and/or interacting with other dogs is not for Lucy, she is a great protector and would make a wonderful addition to anyone’s home. She has both a very serious/docile side and a very silly/playful side as well. She is an amazing & loving companion.
