ADOPTION FEES:

Adult Cat Adoption: $100
Adult Dog Adoption: $200
Puppy Adoption: $250 ($50 will be refunded upon proof of completion of a dog training class within four months of adoption)

The following dogs are all Home Ready - they are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and/or had any medical attention that was needed. We have described the dogs as fully as we can, including any information learned about them while in foster care. Anyone interested in one of these dogs must complete an on-line application before meeting them, however, feel free to call the contact person listed to get more information on their personality and how they would fit into your home.

We offer "Sleepovers" to see how well the dog, as well as the guardian, will adjust to each other prior to the adoption process.

Sarah

Approx Age: 5-6 years
German Shorthair Pointer

Sarah is a very affectionate, loving, sweet dog. She will stand with her head in your lap for as long as you want to pet her soft ears and face. She is very well behaved and fully housetrained and is happy to lie around the house in her dog bed and will vigorously wag her tail when anyone comes into the room. Poor Sarah had to spend 7 weeks in a cage waiting for a foster home to become available and she was overjoyed at having a home again. She gets along very well with cats, older children and other dogs. However, s he is obsessed with birds and squirrels and will chase them if they come into her “space”.
We would prefer anyone interested in Sarah to have knowledgeable of this breed.

CeeCee

Approx Age: 1-1/2 years

CeeCee was found tied to a stairwell at an apartment complex and brought to the shelter by animal control. She was not showing well at the shelter so Four Paws Rescue took her in as a foster dog. CeeCee is an active little girl. She's raring to go as soon as she awakens right up to bedtime. After going out for her morning potty break she gets busy playing; chewing on a nylabone, tossing a toy, racing around the house to see what everyone is doing, and playing with the other foster dogs. We are seeking an adult only home as CeeCee can be a little mouthy. CeeCee does settle nicely when it's time for bed. Currently she sleeps in a crate but we're sure she'd be happy to join you in bed.

Annie

Approx Age: 8 months
English Bulldog/Mastiff mix

Annie is an eight month old English Bulldog/Mastiff mix. She was born with Juvenile Cataracts and the only one her litter to have it. In March 2009 she was accepted as a candidate for lens replacement surgery at UC Davis; she had the surgery with 100% success and can now see! She’s had a tough start in life as in addition to the cataracts, she had to be hand fed as the puppies got sick after delivery and developed an infection in her umbilical cord when she was 4 days old and had to be tube fed for about a week. Annie also developed phenomena but survived!
So Annie is quite the "miracle" puppy! She is great with children but a little aggressive around dogs smaller than her, but perfectly behaved with bigger dogs.

Daisy

Daisy came to us after being found on a freeway and not taking to shelter life with all the barking going on around her.It took her several days to warm up in her new foster home but now she's a little love bug. If you need incentive to get out for some exercise, Daisy will be happy to help you get your 10,000 steps. No stopping to smell the roses for this little girl. She wants to take advantage of being out and has gone as far as four miles but could do more.She gets along with the other dogs in the household but takes a bit of time to come around when meeting a strange dog when she's on a leash.

Rocco

Approximately 2 – 3 years old

Rocco was brought into a local animal shelter from the streets, where apparently he had suffered a run-in with another animal – he had bite marks near his head and rear end. Understandably, he was still frightened and wary when he was pulled from the shelter into foster care.
Although his physical scars have healed, Rocco has scary memories and even now will react with fear to a loud noise or unexpected movement and may be temporarily snappy. For this reason, he will be adopted to an adult only home, preferably one that does not expect to entertain small children.
Rocco’s foster mom reports that he really wants to please and can be a snuggle bug when he knows he can trust you and he loves to play fetch with his toys and will usually bring them back to you. He knows “stay” and “come” and enjoys his walks.
Rocco gets along with other dogs, but will chase squirrels. He needs a guardian who is patient and understanding as he works his way through behavior he learned on the streets. In return for love and security, he will make someone a wonderful, loving companion.

Baby was found by a Good Samaritan running on the streets of Hayward; extremely thin and shy. It took her two hours to finally get a hold of him, at which time she brought him into her home and soothed his traumatized soul. He is very shy and timid, especially around men, but warms up after a while and has turned into a sweet and loving little guy. Loud noises bother him and he does not appear to like cats.
Once into a home, he will be a great little companion.

Cherry Blossom

Approximately 1-1/2 years old

Cherry Blossom is the mother of this fruit basket of puppies. She was found as a stray in San Lorenzo and when no one claimed after a period of time, Four Paws Rescue put her into a foster home. She has the best temperament, but at first didn’t seem to know any commands but quickly picked up on sit, down, stay, heel, wait, bang (she rolls on her side), and leave it. She is very food motivated and really wants to please; fully crate trained, and will hold her potty, however, she continues to need work on the housetraining. She will occasionally bark, but she is not a yappy dog and will often yodel.
Cherry has been an excellent mommy and is very patient with the puppies. When she plays with them she uses a very soft mouth, never rough. She has been a great example to them and I know they will turn out to be just as good as her. Cherry is such a great dog if you are looking for a dog who you won’t even know is around.

Cameo

Cameo was terrified in the shelter after being deposited there by the good samaritan who found her, so much so that her original name was Tremor because she shook so much. After being in foster care for a few days she has turned into a sweet and faithful little companion. She loves to follow you around the house and play with her toys. Cameo gets along with other dogs and loves to play chase once she opens up. We have only had her for a few days but our opinion is that she is a sweet and happy go lucky dog who needs time to adjust and will be by your side all the time. Chanel

What an elegant dog Chanel is with her delicate long legs, slender body and petite features. Chanel and the other dogs in the home enjoy chasing each other around, flying through the doggie door to the back yard and back into the house. When it's time to be quiet, Chanel will curl up nicely on your warm lap to take a nap.

If you're looking for a doggie companion with personality and spunk, come and meet Dino! He loves to play with his toys and knows how to fetch, and would love a four-legged friend to wrestle with all day. He can also be a sweet and mellow lap dog who loves to be carried around in your arms. He thanks you by giving hugs with his paws and sweet kisses on your neck!! Dino came to Four Paws Rescue from the Oakland Animal Shelter. He had been found wandering the streets of San Leandro, suffering from Demodex Mange. He is on medication and is well on his way to a full recovery and to looking like a normal dog once all his hair grows back.
Dino seems to like older children and cats, and he loves his doggie companions. This cute little man is not quite house-trained, but he is doing his best to learn what is expected of him. He is crate-trained and is learning to accept being on a leash - especially as he's realizing that seeing it coming can only mean good times!! You'll want to make sure he has plenty of soft blankets for him to sleep under when he's tired. As you can see, he's waiting for his special Valentine to come by and carry him away to his loving, forever home.

Plato is a delightful little boy who is just under a year old and has many more years ahead of him in which he can bring such joy to someone. He is not too big and not too small; actually just the right size, although we know he will grow just a little bit bigger.
His foster dad tell us that Plate is housetrained, crate-trained, is walking great on a leash and warms up slowly to people. This little guy came to Four Paws Rescue as an owner surrender when his previous guardian could no longer keep him so we do know history.

Ricardo is one those little guys who evidently was left out to fend for himself as he was found wandering the streets, alone, tired and hungry – but with a wonderful little personality. He is a great little dog, a lap dog – as we say – who, in his older age, wants nothing better to do than sit in one’s lap, look adoringly at you and get three square meals a day in exchange for his complete loyalty.
Not being a youngster we are hopeful that someone will love him for who he is and look beyond his age – although barring any problems he should live many more years, especially if he receives the love and attention that he so deserves.
